Maurice H. Kampwerth, 77, of St. Rose, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese

He was born September 21, 1926 in Beckemeyer to Anna Voss and the late Herman H. Kampwerth; his mother survives in Carlyle

He married Bertha Schrage on April 27, 1954 at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose; she survives in St. Rose

Also surviving is a son, Kent (Elaine) Kampwerth of Troy

Also surviving are daughters, Gerene (Mark) Gramlich of Cary, NC, Sharon (Bill) Knuf of Highland, Judy (Dave) Rhoades of Liberty, MO, June (Wade) Timmermann of Maumelle, AR, and Jill (John) Boysha of Fairview Heights

9 Grandchildren

Also surviving is a brother Leonard (Dorothy) Kampwerth of Carlyle

Also surviving are sisters Alice (Leo) Kerkemeyer of Collinsville, Dodie (Fred) Blum of San Antonio, TX, and Sr. Annemarie Kampwerth, PHJC of Whiting, IN

Preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Kampwerth

Maurice was a retired farmer, a true Cardinal fan and avid Sports fan, a local reporter for the Centralia Sentinel, a co-founder of St. Rose Little League, an Army Veteran, and he enjoyed listening to KMOX

He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Men’s Sodality, St. Rose Development Club, Breese American Legion Post 252 where he served as a past Service Officer, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, and a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 9:30 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery, St. Rose

Visitation will be Friday, December 19, 2003 from 4 to 9 PM and again on Saturday, December 20, 2003 from 8 to 9 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Breese Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 7 PM Friday night at the funeral home and the Breese American Legion will hold services at 7:30 PM Friday night at the funeral home

Memorials can be made to St. Rose Catholic Church, Mater Dei High School, or the Lions of Illinois Foundation for Visual Impairments and will be received at the funeral home
