Beulah M. "Bea" Brown, nee Layton, 80, of Trenton, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland

She was born July 9, 1923 in Brewer, MO to Kenrick and Sarah (Brewer) Layton; they preceded her in death

Also preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Moffatt, Jr., a brother, Melvin Layton, and sisters, Leona Miller, Lenita Cissell, and Marie Moore

She married Howard Brown on October 26, 1946 in Brewer, MO; he survives in Trenton

Also surviving are sons Steven (Sue) Brown of St. Louis, James (Karen) Brown of Trenton, Thomas (Susan) Brown of Sterling, VA, Michael (Lisa) Brown of O’Fallon, and Robert Brown of New Baden

Also surviving are daughters Christine (Larry) Wilson of Waterloo, Mary Jakel of Highland, Ann (Dan) Ritzheimer of Edwardsville, and Susan Moffatt of Trenton

21 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren

Also surviving are sisters Aline Reiss of Sereno, MO, Beryl Moore of Brewer, MO, and Doris Nickelson of Hurdle Mills, NC

Bea was a homemaker

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, Trenton Senior Citizens, and St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary-Breese

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. James Dougherty officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Trenton

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 28, 2004 from 4 to 9 PM and again on Thursday, April 29, 2004 from 8 to 10:15 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to St. Mary Catholic Church and will be received at the funeral home
