Herb W. Faitz 97 of Trenton died Monday March 27, 2006 at his residence. 

He was born July 24, 1908 near Summerfield, IL to Martin and Minnie (Noll) Faitz: they preceded him in death 

He married Elsie Abel September 5, 1931 in Montgomery City, MO and she preceded him in death September 18, 1999 

Also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Rose Mary Faitz, son-in-law Delbert Tri, a grandson Dale Tri, brothers Arnold and Robert Faitz, sisters Blanche Junghans, Clara Heuberger, and Martha Pope 

Surviving is a daughter JoAnn Tri of Brownsburg, IN 

A son Dwight Faitz of St. Jacob 

9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren 

Herb was a retired Illinois State Police Officer serving from 1941 to 1967. 

He was the oldest retired Illinois State Trooper, and the oldest male citizen of Trenton 

Member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton, Trenton Masonic Lodge AF and AM, Illinois State Police Association, Trenton Meals on Wheels and Lebanon Singing Society 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 30, 2006 at 10:00 am at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton with Rev. Mark Buck officiating. Interment Trenton cemetery 

Visitation will be on Wednesday March 29 from 4 to 9 PM and on Thursday March 30 from 8 to 9:45 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton 

The Masons will hold Masonic Rites at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home 

Memorials can be made to St. John United Church of Christ or American Cancer society and will be received at the funeral home
