SSG Joshua Allen Melton 26 of Germantown was killed while serving in Kandahar Afghanistan June 19, 2009 

He was born October 8, 1982 in Breese, IL to Michael Melton and Debbie (nee Warren) Rodgers. His father survives in Carlyle. His mother survives in Kirby TX 

He married Larissa Verdeyen July 22, 2006 at St. Boniface Church, Germantown and she survives in Germantown 

Also Survivng is his daughter Aubrey Melton 

A brother Dustin and his wife Lauren Melton of Aviston 

Father-in-law Steve Verdeyen of Fairview Heights 

Mother-in-law Carolyn her husband Rick Pennington of Clifton AZ 

Sister-in-law Andrea (friend Nate Richter) Verdeyen of O’Fallon, MO 

Grandparents Elmer and Nadine Melton of Carlyle, Bill Reddick of Keyesport 

Many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends 

Preceded in death by Grandmother Clarice Reddick, grandfather Jinx Warren, uncles Dennis Melton and Tim Hitpas, Aunt Doris Legate 

Josh was serving with the Illinois Army National Guard in Afghanistan. He enjoyed being with family and friends especially his daughter Aubrey. He was an avid hunter and fisherman 

Member of the Carlyle VFW Post 3523 

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday June 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery in Carlyle with full Military honors accorded 

Visitation will be held on Friday June 26 after 3:00PM and Saturday June 27 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown 

Memorials can be made to his daughter Aubrey Melton Trust Fund and will be received through the funeral home or Germantown Trust and Savings Bank
