Joseph B. Mueller, 84, of Bartelso died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese.

He was born November 9, 1923 in Bartelso to Joseph C. and Mary C. (Jansen) Mueller: they preceded him in death  

Also preceded in death by sister, Sr. Agnes Mueller ASC, a brother, Leonard Mueller and a sister-in-law Teresa Mueller. 

He married Mary A. Beckmann on May 18, 1944 at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso and she survives in Bartelso

Also surviving are sons, Mel Mueller, Dan (Mary) Mueller, Michael (Diane) Mueller, and Mark Mueller all of Bartelso. 

Daughters Diana (Don) Schmitt, Sharon Mueller all of Marietta GA, and Judy (Dan) Gilbreth of Bartelso. 

16 grandchildren- David Schmitt, Ryan Mueller, Casey Mueller, Jeremy (Nicole) Mueller, Carrie (Fiancé Jeremy) Mueller, Corrine Mueller, Cassandra Mueller , Eric Mueller, Alison Mueller, Jack Mueller, Hannah Mueller, Lily Mueller, Nick Gilbreth, Lyle Gilbreth, Kameron Gilbreth and Kelly Gilbreth 

Brothers, Paul Mueller, Marcel (Loretta) Mueller all of Belleville, and John (Mary) Mueller of Highland. 

Sisters, Sr. Mary Ann Mueller ASC of St. Louis, Leona (Leo) Beckmann of Carlyle, Rose (Fred) Kreke of Bartelso. 

Joseph was retired mail carrier and an Army Veteran of WWII, stationed in France and Germany and served under General Patton, Street and water commissioner of Bartelso, telephone repair man for the first phone company in Bartelso. Joe was an avid pinochle player, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting.   

Member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso, Bartelso American Legion Post 976, Life Member of Catholic War Veterans, Life Member of Carlyle VFW Post 3523, Life Member of 4th Degree Bishop Althoff Assembly, Bartelso Knights of Columbus Council 4745,  Bartelso Community development, Bartelso Young at Hearts Club. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer officiating Interment St. Cecilia Cemetery with full military honors. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29, from 4 to 9 PM and Wednesday, January 30, from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. 

Memorials can be made to Bartelso Community Development Club or St. Cecilia Church and will be received at the funeral home
