Cecilia C. Buss, nee Pingsterhaus, 90, of Breese, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Breese Nursing Home. 

She was born September 20, 1919 in Breese Twp, to Henry and Louisa (Schleper) Pingsterhaus; they preceded her in death. 

She married Gregory Buss on May 7, 1947 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese; he preceded her in death on May 25, 2008. 

Also preceded in death by a son, Gerard Buss; brothers, Alvin Pingsterhaus and Quinton Pingsterhaus; a sister, Loretta Pingsterhaus; and brothers-in-law, Wilfred Emig and Marcellus Ottensmeier. 

Surviving is a daughter-in-law, Janet Buss of Beckemeyer; 3 grandchildren, Jessica (James) Hopkins, Jolene (Matt) Kohnen, and Jeffrey Buss; 2 great-grandchildren, Savannah Hopkins and Dayton Kohnen; sisters, Regina Emig of Bartelso, Rosina (George) Hollenkamp of Aviston, and Rita (friend Blackie) Ottensmeier of Trenton; brothers, Ray (Imelda) Pingsterhaus of Beckemeyer and Ralph Pingsterhaus of Breese; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann (Jerome) Heckenkemper of New Baden, Bernadine (Linus) Meier of Albers, Leo (Mary Ellen) Buss of Breese, and Norbert (Dorothy) Buss of Lively Grove.  

Cecilia was a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Breese, Breese Senior Citizens, and an honorary member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.  She was an avid quilter and loved to work in the garden. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese. 

Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 8:00-9:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.  

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
