    Dalton D. Newkirk, age 24, of Highland and formerly Bartelso, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Crawford County, MO.

     

    He was born October 11, 1995 in Breese, the son of Kevin and Debbie, nee Rickhoff, Newkirk of Bartelso.

     

    In addition to his parents, he is survived by the love of his life and fiancée Jennifer Mioux, whom he was to marry October 24, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle; siblings, Megan (fiancé Scott Droege) Newkirk of Aviston and Carson (friend Nate Loepker) Newkirk of Bartelso; his fiancée’s parents, Joe and Anna, nee Tsoukas, Mioux of Carlyle; fiancée’s siblings, Michael Mioux of Atlanta, GA, Nick (Kaitlin) Mioux of Shiloh, and Christina Mioux of Carlyle; aunts and uncles, Terry “Snick” (Connie) Rickhoff of Bartelso, Janet (Dave) Wuebbels of Albers, Mark (Kris) Rickhoff of Bartelso, Lisa (Dean) Thole of Bartelso, Jennifer (Steve) Jansen of Bartelso, Gina (Danny) Reeves of Bartelso, Debbie Day of Florida and Bob (Terri) Newkirk of Carlyle; and numerous cousins and friends.

     

    He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence “Yank” and Flossie, nee Hemker, Rickhoff and Dean and Shirley, nee Robinett, Newkirk; and uncles, Steve Newkirk and Eric Newkirk.

     

    Dalton was a 2014 graduate of Central Community High School in Breese, where he played football and basketball all four years. He graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree and master’s degree in accountancy. Dalton was currently working at Scott Air Force Base as a contractor. He enjoyed golfing, fantasy football, and watching the St. Louis Blues, Las Vegas (Los Angeles) Raiders, and St. Louis BattleHawks.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster presiding.

     

    Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 9:00-10:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

     

    (masks are required at both the visitation and funeral mass and the family politely asks to refrain from hugs and handshakes)

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants and other gifts, memorials may be made to the Central Community High School Football Program and will be received at the funeral home.
