    Dolores E. Schneider, nee Holthaus, age 78 of Beckemeyer, born April 13, 1938 in Beckemeyer, a daughter of the late Joseph and Janina, nee Tyl, Holthaus, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

     

    In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Adolph “Sonny” Schneider, who she married August 7, 1956 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer and he died October 2, 1994; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Catherine, nee Walker Schneider; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arnold Koerkenmeier, Elena Holthaus, Mary and Olen Crow, Rose and Jim Szczeblewski, Phillip Schneider, Alfred Schneider, Catherine and Bill Stutz, and John White.

     

    Surviving is a daughter, Roberta “Bobbi” (Dennis) Kreke of Carlyle; 2 grandchildren, Joann Kreke of Glen Ellyn and Gary (Shannon) Kreke of Beckemeyer; 3 great-grandchildren, Zach, Alex, and Cole Kreke; siblings, Henry Holthaus of Sun City, CA, Walter (Bessie) Holthaus of Riverside, CA, Charles (Carol) Holthaus of Centralia, Joann Koerkenmeier of Trenton, Alvin (Mary) Holthaus of Centralia, Edwin (Donna) Holthaus of Highland, and David (Margaret) Holthaus of Highland; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jo (Monroe “Whitey”) White of Troy, Sr. Edith Schneider PHJC of Donaldson, IN, Agnes White of Hoffman, and Clara (Roger) Locher of Sabetha, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    Mrs. Schneider retired as a heavy equipment operator and along with her husband Sonny, was a dairy and grain farmer. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer, Catholic War Veteran Auxiliary, Beckemeyer American Legion Post 1227 Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and I.U.O.E Local 520-Granite City. Dolores enjoyed flowers, gardening, and motorcycle riding.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Beckemeyer.

     

    Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

     

    Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or to the Beckemeyer American Legion Post 1227 Auxiliary and will be received at the funeral home.
