Elsie H. Schmitt, nee Holtmann, age 90, of Trenton, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Aviston Countryside Manor.

 

Mrs. Schmitt was born August 20, 1927 in rural Trenton, a daughter of the late Henry and Lucille, nee Mensing, Holtmann.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Schmitt whom she married March 5, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton and he died February 9, 1998; a grandson, Michael Philip Schmitt; sister, Elvera Schmitt; brother, Cletus “Skeets” Holtmann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert Schmitt, George and Florine Schmitt, Marcella and Robert Schildknecht, and Marie and William Bonnel.

 

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Randy) Ammann of Highland and Philip Schmitt of Trenton; grandchildren, Blake and Paige Ammann, Clark (Krystal) Schmitt, and Abigail (Andrew) Spann; great-grandchildren, Crosby and Waylon Schmitt; brother, Ralph (Marilyn) Holtmann of Germantown; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Holtmann of Germantown.

 

Elsie was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton. She loved babysitting her grandchildren.

 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher presiding. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at S. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton.

 

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main, Trenton, IL 62293 who is serving the family.
