Johanna M. Furtwengler, nee Horstmann, age 90 of Breese, born February 2, 1925 in Wade Twp., a daughter of Herman and Katherine, nee Rohr, Horstmann, died Monday, October 12, 2015 at Breese Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Furtwengler, whom she married September 11, 1946 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer and he died March 19, 2002; a son, Doug Furtwengler; a brother, Charles Horstmann; a sister, Florence Weh; and a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bertha Horstmann, Harold Weh, and Elmer “Emmie” Deien.

Surviving are her sons, Dale Furtwengler and wife Charlotte of St. Louis, MO and Don Furtwengler and wife Gloria of Petersburg; a daughter-in-law Phyllis Furtwengler of O’Fallon, MO; 2 grandchildren, Dan Furtwengler and wife Julie and Adam Furtwengler and wife Cara; 4 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Johanna, Claire and William; and a sister, Ruth Deien of Breese.

Johanna was a homemaker, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, and she enjoyed playing cards.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church and will be received at the funeral home.
