She was born February 22, 1910 in Trenton to Phillip and Emma (Hogg) Fischer: they preceded her in death.

She married William Schaefer in Trenton and he preceded her in death March 25, 1981

Also preceded in death by brothers, Harvey and Lester Fischer

Surviving is a daughter Judy Thompson of St. Louis, MO

Grandchildren Maris Thompson of Oakland Ca, and Cole Thompson of Seattle WA

A sister Alice Wasmuth of Greenville

Melba worked for the Telephone Company, Trenton Post Office and was a very accomplished Seamstress

Her favorite pastimes where sewing and playing bridge. She was a wonderful mother and loving grandmother

Member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Trenton. A founding member of St. Joseph hospital Auxiliary in highland.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday February 3, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 am with Fr. James Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in Trenton Cemetery

Visitation will be held on Sunday February 2 from 5 to 8 PM and on Monday February 3 from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the Moss Funeral home in Trenton

Memorials can be made to St. Joseph hospital Auxiliary-Highland and will be received at the funeral home
