Loretta C. Schwend, nee Holtmann, 78, of Trenton, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. 

Mrs. Schwend was born April 17, 1930 in Albers, a daughter of George and Mary (Huene) Holtmann; they preceded her in death. 

Also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Toennies and brothers-in-law, Ron Huegen, Bill “Jug” Spaeth, and Clarence “Shorty” Giger. 

She married Calvin Schwend on April 14, 1953 at St. Bernard Church in Albers and he survives in Trenton. 

Also surviving are her children, Judy (Michael) Kuhn of Trenton, Gary (Carol) Schwend of Trenton, Jeanette (Allan) Deiters of Breese, Susie (Bill) Taylor of Trenton, and Mary Lou (Gerry) Thole of Highland; 8 Grandchildren, Bill (Sharon) Kuhn, Crystal (Jeremy) Wilson, Colin Kuhn, Shelley (Jace) Lacaze, Stephanie (friend Adam) Schwend, Stacey (friend Tim) Deiters, Nichole (friend Chris) Deiters, and Tyler Thole; a Great-Granddaughter, Ella Lacaze; Sisters, Mary Ann Spaeth of Trenton, Dolores (Cyril) Poettker of Breese, and Ruthie Huegen of Trenton; Brothers, Raymond (Adeline) Holtmann of Germantown, Clarence (Isabelle) Holtmann of Albers, and Gregory “David” (Dot) Holtmann of New Baden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Adrian “Tony” (Trudy) Toennies of Trenton, Vivian Giger, Gene (Marian) Schwend, Jeff (Jill) Schwend, and Bill (Betty) Schwend all of Highland. 

Loretta along with her husband Cal owned and operated Trenton Processing in Trenton, and she later baby sat for her grandchildren. 

She was a member of St. Mary Church and Altar Sodality. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Eugene Kreher officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Trenton. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 8:00-9:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. 

Memorials can be made to St. Mary Church or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
