Herman J. “Hermie” Seelhoefer, 78, of Bartelso, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

 Mr. Seelhoefer was born August 6, 1928 in Beaver Prairie to Henry and Elizabeth (Dust) Seelhoefer; they preceded him in death. 

Also preceded in death by brothers Alfred Seelhoefer and Ben Seelhoefer, and sisters Frieda Hoerchler and Rose Karhoff, 3 half-brothers and 4 half sisters, brothers-in-law Vincent “Peggy” Rickhoff, Clarence “Yank” Rickhoff, Frank Winkeler, Art Hoerchler, Ray Karhoff, Gene Maue, and Edward Broeckling, Sisters-in-law Ida Seelhoefer, Emma Seelhoefer, and Johanna Rickhoff

 He married Dolores Rickhoff on June 12, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown; she survives in Bartelso

 Also surviving is his children Darlene (Tom) Winkeler of Bartelso, Dan (Karen) Seelhoefer of Bartelso, Mike “Buzz” (Sharon) Seelhoefer of Damiansville, and Kurt (Michelle) Seelhoefer of Bartelso

 8 Grandchildren-Krista, Sarah, and Lindsay Winkeler, Cody and Kaitlyn Seelhoefer, Nikki Beer, and Nolan and Nicholas Seelhoefer.

 A great-grandson, Cole

 A brother, Joe (Pat) Seelhoefer of Jacksonville, FL and sisters, Mary Maue of Breese and Henrietta Broeckling of Albers

 Brothers-in law, Ray “Doc” Rickhoff and Edward “Peabody” (Girlie) Rickhoff both of Bartelso and sisters-in-law, Agnes Winkeler of Bartelso, Sue Rickhoff of Germantown, and Flossie (Julio) Granda of Addieville

 Herman retired as a truck driver after 32 years at Scott Air Force Base.

 He was a member of St. Cecilia Church where he served as an usher, server, and a lector, Catholic War Veterans Marion Post 1780, Past Commander of the Bartelso American Legion Post 976, Korean War Veterans, past alderman and volunteer fireman in Bartelso, Bartelso Community Development, and the Young at Hearts Club.

 He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he received the Purple Heart for his service from January, 1951 to November, 1952

 Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 18, 2006 at 2:00 PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso 

Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2006 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Friday, August 18, 2006 from 11:00 AM-1:30 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

 Memorials can be made to St. Cecilia Church or to Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
