Ruth E. Donnewald, nee Holtgrave, 79, of Breese, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Rose Wood Care Center in Northbrook, IL. 

Mrs. Donnewald was born June 18, 1928 in Breese, IL to Alvin and Lenore (Bingham) Holtgrave; they preceded her in death. 

Also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Fredenberg, a sister-in-law, Shirley Holtgrave, and brothers-in-law, Freemont “Slugger” Wobbe, Jerry Farrell, Alan Christinsin, Larry Brauch, and Peter Fredenberg. 

She married former State Treasurer and State Senator James H. Donnewald on June 24, 1953 in St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, IL; he survives in Breese, IL. 

Also surviving is her children, Eric (Pam) Donnewald of Springfield, IL, Craig (Theresa) Donnewald of Arlington Heights, IL, and Jill (Ken) Kailin of Northbrook, IL. 

5 Grandchildren-Katie and Steven Donnewald, Mitchell, Jenna, and Elise Kailin. 

A brother, Ray (Angie) Holtgrave of Breese, and sisters, Martha Wobbe of Breese, Rita Christinsin of Kansas City, MO, Elizabeth “Bess” Brauch of Kansas City, MO, and Mary Margaret “MaGee” Farrell of Breese. 

Mrs. Donnewald was a homemaker. 

She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Carlyle, IL. 

Visitation will be Monday, August 20, 2007 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 8:00-10:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. 

Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, American Lung Association, or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
