Arnold J. Gebke, 88, of Bartelso, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. 

Mr. Gebke was born June 2, 1919 in Bartelso to John and Theresa (Beuligmann) Gebke; they preceded him in death.  He was raised by his father and step-mother, Mary (Mueller) Gebke and she also preceded him in death. 

He married Irene Kapp on October 19, 1948 at St. Dominic Church in Breese; she preceded him in death on March 24, 2007. 

Also preceded in death by a son, Leonard Gebke; sisters, Josephine Kapp and Mary Winkeler; and brothers, Eugene Gebke in infancy and Roman Gebke.  

Surviving are his children, Jane (David) Beckmann of Carlyle, Arnold (Kelly) Gebke of Bartelso, Pat (Randy) Kruep of Bartelso, Marvin (Kim) Gebke of Damiansville, Judy (Gerard “Rex”) Schomaker of Albers, and Tim (Kristy) Gebke of Bartelso. 

A Daughter-in-law, Karen Gebke of Breese. 

13 Grandchildren-Sara (Jason) Snow, Jodi (Tim) Meyer, Lori (Tommy) Hall, Scott Gebke, Dana (special friend Mike Winkeler) Gebke, Tyler and Amber Gebke, Corey and Brett Kruep, Alicia Gebke, Teresa and Connor Shomaker, and Austin Gebke. 

5 Great-Grandchildren-Camden, Kaiden and Ella Snow, Emma Meyer, and Madison Winkeler. 

Brothers, Art (Joan) Gebke of Germantown, John (Betty) Gebke of Bartelso, and Al (Roseann) Gebke of Breese. 

Arnold formerly worked at the Ziegeler Stove Foundry in Centralia, Hollywood Candy Company in Centralia, Belleville Stove Foundry in Belleville, and was a part time mail carrier in Bartelso. 

He was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23, 2007 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 11:00 AM-1:30 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. 

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
