George H. Hemker, 80, of Bartelso, died Monday,
February 09, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese
He was born February 26, 1923 in Germantown to Bernard and Sophia
(Frerker) Hemker, Sr.; they preceded him in death
Also preceded in death by brothers Bernard Hemker, Jr., Edward
Hemker, Sr., Henry Hemker, and Vince Hemker
Also preceded in death by sisters Margaret Varel, Sr. Bernawarda
Hemker, Sophia Beer, Catherine Hemker, and Josephine Hemker
He married Marie Wiese on November 24, 1949 at St. Mary Catholic
Church in Carlyle; she survives in Bartelso
Also surviving are sons Ronald (Kathy) Hemker of Andrews, IN,
Dale (Marlene) Hemker of Bartelso, and Gerald (Linda) Hemker of
Germantown
Also surviving are daughters Charlotte (Clete) Timmermann of
Beckemeyer, Pat (Arnie) Steinkamp of Bartelso, and Mary Ellen
(Victor) Brown of New Minden
19 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren
George retired from farming and was an Army veteran of WW II
He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and men’s
sodality, Bartelso Knights of Columbus Council 4745, Clinton County
Farm Bureau, Mid America Dairy Association, and Bartelso Young at
Heart Club
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 2 PM at St.
Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer
officiating. Interment in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 4-9 PM and
again on Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 11 AM-1:30PM at the Moss
Funeral Home in Germantown
Memorials can be made to St. Cecilia Church or to the donor’s
choice and will be received at the funeral home
