Elsie F. Holtgrave, nee Schrage, 86, of St. Rose, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. 

Mrs. Holtgrave was born December 29, 1919 in St. Rose to Fred and Dorothy (Buehne) Schrage; they preceded her in death. 

She married Louis Holtgrave on November 15, 1938 at St. Rose Church, St. Rose; he preceded her in death on November 2, 1981. 

Also preceded in death by a step-son, Hank Holtgrave; brothers, Ralph Schrage, Alfred Schrage, Paul Schrage and Rich Schrage;

A sister, Rosalie Schrage; brothers-in-law, Alvin Mensing, Gerhard Peek, Benny Wolters, and Gary Zimmermann; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Holtgrave. 

Surviving are her sons, Don (friend Shari Walker) Holtgrave of Germantown and Dennis (Phyllis) Holtgrave of Belleville. 

A step-daughter, Dolores Holtgrave of Breese.  

6 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren, 5 Step-Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren. 

A brother, Elmer (Fran) Schrage of Breese. 

Sisters, Bernita Mensing of Breese, Arlene Peek of Aviston, Helen Wolters of Breese, and Bridgette Zimmermann of Fairview Heights. 

A step-daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Holtgrave of Breese. 

Sisters-in-law, Katie Schrage and Alice Schrage both of Breese, Darlene Schrage of St. Rose, and Judy Schrage of Highland. 

Elsie along with her husband Louis owned and operated Holtgrave Trucking in St. Rose.  She later retired from Jakel Industries in Highland. 

She was a member of St. Rose Church and Altar Sodality, Breese American Legion Post 252 Auxiliary, and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2006 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Saturday, February 18, 2006 from 8:00-9:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. 

Breese American Legion Auxiliary will hold services at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the Funeral Home. 

Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Hospital Lights for Scholarship Program and will be received at the funeral home
