Michael Erwin “Mike” Hostmeyer, 60, of Boulder, IL, formerly of Breese, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. 

He was born December 16, 1947 in Breese to Erwin Christ and Ann Marie (Baumgartner) Hostmeyer; they preceded him in death. 

Also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mildred Taylor. 

He married Jo-Ann Taylor on October 5, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Carlyle; she survives in Boulder. 

Also surviving are his children, Melissa (Timothy) Gillette of Breese, Michael Eric Hostmeyer of New Baden, and Samantha Lynn Hostmeyer of Boulder. 

1 Granddaughter, Ellie Marie Hostmeyer. 

A sister, JoAnn Monken of O’Fallon, and sister-in-law, Joan (Stanley) Huffman of Flora. 

Several nieces, great nieces and nephews. 

Mike served in the United States Coast Guard, was a former Illinois State Trooper, retired as a coal miner from Monterey Coal, and was the owner/operator of Hostmeyer Co. Trucking. 

He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and was an avid golfer and fisherman. 

Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. 

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
