Melvin Kreiter 83 of Breese died Monday January 30, 2006 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO

 He was born May 4, 1922 in Highland, IL to Joseph and Mathilda (Gnaedinger) Kreiter: they preceded him in death 

Also preceded in death by brothers Harry and Tom Kreiter, sisters Eleanor Ratermann and Loretta Kuper, father and mother-in-law Fred and Leona Lohman, brothers-in-law Frank Ratermann, Raymond Kuper,

Fred Lohman Jr., Jerome Hustedde, Cornelius “Bud” Warnecke, Francis Richardson and Joseph Haynes, sister-in-law Mary Haynes, nephews Tom Kampwerth and Ron Warnecke

 He married Virginia Lohman January 14, 1947 at St. Francis Church in Aviston and she survives in Breese 

Also surviving is his aunt Minnie Tebbe of St. Rose

 Brothers and sisters-in-law Terry (Cathy) Lohman of Trenton, Ruth Warnecke of Breese, Clare Hustedde of Breese, Angela Richardson of Lady Lake, FL, Jackie (Dave) Francis of Cincinnati, OH

 Nephews Jerome (Jeannie) Ratermann, Philip Warnecke, Mark Warnecke, Steve (Susie) Lohman, Mark Lohman, John (Annette) Chester, Shawn (Heather) Lohman, Neal (Lauren) Lohman, Nathan Lohman

 Nieces Judy Kampwerth, Marlene (Tom) Burr, Marilyn (Mike) Madison, Julie Lange, Lisa (Jim) Schlarman, Anita (Marty) Seger, Nancy (Jeff) Wolters, Renee Lohman, Mary (Dale) Mosley,  Michele ( Kevin) Nealon, Jeanne McCollough, Lynn (Olivier) deWeck

 Mel was retired from Scott Air Force Base and farming.  Mel was a Merchant Marine veteran of WWII, being part of action in the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea

 Member of St. Dominic Church and men’s sodality, Breese Knights of Columbus council 2869, Clinton County Farm Bureau 

Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2006 from 4 to 9 PM and again on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 from 8 to 10:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese 

Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Church or All Saints Academy and will be received at the funeral home
