Joseph L. Leonard, Sr., 92, of
Germantown, died Friday, October 28, 2005 at Caring First Nursing
Home in Breese.
He was born December 29, 1912 in
Germantown to William and Anna (Albers) Leonard; they preceded him
in death

Daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Leonard, Brothers, Ben, William, Frank, Ed,
and Alphonse Leonard,Sisters, Rose Wobbe, Josephine Albers, Veronica
Robke, and Sophie Reilmann, Brothers-in-law, Herman and Henry
Kohnen, Sisters-in-law, Bernadine and Annie Kohnen
67 years ago he married Sophie
Kohnen on September 14, 1938 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in
Clayton,
MO; she survives in Germantown
Surviving is a daughter Mary “Pepe”
(Cyril) Korte of Germantown, and sons Frank (special friend Barb
Wempe) Leonard of Breese, and Joseph (Paulette) Leonard, Jr. of
Germantown

the union in Carlyle and Granite City
He was a member of St. Boniface
Catholic Church, Germantown American Legion Post 325 and Drill Team,
was the oldest member of the Germantown Fire Department, and an Army
Veteran of WWII in which he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze
Star
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held on Monday, October 31, 2005 at 11 AM at St. Boniface Catholic
Church in Germantown with Fr. Stephen Humphrey officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery
Friends may call from 4 to 9 PM on
Sunday, October 30, 2005
and from 8 to 10:45 AM on
Monday, October 31, 2005 at
the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials may be made to the
Germantown Fire Department or to VNA-TIP Hospice and will be
received at the funeral home
Germantown American Legion will hold
services at 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home |
