She was born May 3, 1922 in New Baden to Estelle Billhartz, she was raised by John and Anna (Schrempp) Billhartz and she was the step-daughter of George Rathmann; they all preceded her in death

She married Leander "Ben" Moss on September 22, 1943 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden; he preceded her in death on September 29, 1995

Also preceded in death by a sister George Ellen Rathmann

Surviving are sons Gary (Marty) Moss of San Diego, CA, David (Maura) Moss of Breese, Glen (Theresa) Moss of Dayton, OH, and Mark (Kim) Moss of Trenton

Daughters Donna (John) Boeing of Palos Heights, Barbara (Richard) Rhodes of Belleville, and Lora Zurliene of Breese

19 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren

Also surviving are Brothers George (Louise) Rathmann of Belleville, John (Letty) Rathmann of Breese, and Jim (Gail) Rathmann of Chandler, AZ

Bernice and her late husband Ben Co-Founded Moss Funeral Home of Breese, Germantown, and Trenton in 1953 and she was an avid Pinochle and Euchre Player

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, Daughters of Isabella Precious Blood Circle 718, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and Concordia Saengerchor

Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be Monday, December 15, 2003 at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow at St. Dominic~St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese

Visitation will be Sunday, December 14, 2003 after 11 AM and again on Monday, December 15, 2003 from 8 to 10:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Daughters of Isabella will pray the Rosary at 7:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home

Memorials can be made to Mater Dei High School or All Saints Academy and will be received at the funeral home
