Michael E. Nobis, 70, of Breese, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. 

He was born January 14, 1936 in Quincy to Leaton and Helen (McGartland) Nobis; they preceded him in death. 

Also preceded in death by brothers, Chuck Nobis, Leaton Nobis, Jr., Richard Nobis, and Patrick Nobis, and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Nobis. 

He married Gladys Wiskirchen on July 23, 1960 in St. Peter’s Church, Quincy; she survives in Keyesport. 

Also surviving is a son Curt (Joyce) Nobis of Albers 

3 Grandchildren-Clint, Emily, and Corie Nobis. 

Sisters, Judy Meza of Daly City, CA and Mary (John) Toney of Rockland, CA. 

A sister-in-law, Carol Nobis of San Carlos, CA. 

Michael graduated from Culver Stockton College with a bachelor’s degree in Education.  He was the Athletic Director at Mater Dei High School where he started the Football Program along with the Clinton County Youth Football program, and was also the head of Fund Raising and Public Relations until his retirement. He also retired from the Centralia Correctional Center as the Leisure Time Services Director. 

He was a member of St. Dominic Church in Breese, Mater Dei Fathers and Friends, and a past member of the Breese Lion’s Club and the Breese Jaycees. 

Memorial Mass will be Friday, October 6, 2006 at 2:00 PM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. 

Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2006 from 12:00-2:00 PM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. 

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home who is in charge of the arrangements.
