Sylvia A. Rakers, nee Litteken, 81,
of Trenton, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Breese Nursing Home.
Mrs. Rakers was born March 16, 1928
in Aviston to Aloys and Frances (Timmermann) Litteken; they preceded
her in death.
Also preceded in death by a
grandson, John Colvin, Jr., a granddaughter, Charity Peek.;
brothers, David and Dan Litteken; and a brother-in-law, Marcel Von
Bokel.
She married Albert Rakers on
November 23, 1949
at St. Francis Church in Aviston; he survives in Trenton.
In addition to her husband, she is
survived by her children, Elaine (John) Colvin of Trenton, Bonnie
(Bob McLean) Weinacht of Highland, Paula (Dale) Peek of Aviston,
Jane (Marvin) Hollenkamp of Aviston, and Joan (Jay) Blair of Manito,
IL; 15 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Lydia
(Kenneth) Thouvenot and Margie (Jerry Schilling) Von Bokel all of
Belleville; brothers, Aloys (Carol) Litteken of Kirkwood, MO and
James (Thelma) Litteken of Trenton; and sisters-in-law, Viola “Olie”
Litteken of Trenton and Mary Litteken of Carlyle.
Sylvia formerly operated a daycare
from her home for 25+ years and was a member of St. Mary Church and
Altar Sodality, and was the past Vice-President of Mater Dei Mothers
& Friends.
A Memorial Mass will be Tuesday,
July 7, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with
Fr. Gene Kreher officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, July 6,
2009 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
Memorials can be made to the donor’s
choice and will be received at the funeral home.
Keeping with her wishes, Sylvia’s
body was donated to science. |
