Valeria M. Ripperda, nee Richter, 83, of New Baden, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. 

Mrs. Ripperda was born February 15, 1926 in Aviston to Leo and Margaret (Heimann) Richter; they preceded her in death. 

She married Eugene Ripperda on June 17, 1947 at St. Francis Church in Aviston; he preceded her in death on May 19, 1991. 

Also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Allison; a sister, Florence Albers; brothers, Virgil Richter and Leo Richter; sisters-in-law, Dolores Ripperda and Alice Ripperda; brothers-in-law, Charles Albers, Julian Frey, Paul Rakers, Robert “Jack” Ripperda, Edgar Schrage, Norbert Ripperda, Cyril Ripperda, and Bernard Ripperda. 

Surviving are her children, Stan Ripperda of St. Louis, Floyd (Patricia) Ripperda of New Baden, Margie (friend John Bean) Fuca of Belleville, and Dr. Mark (Diane) Ripperda of Scottsdale, AZ; a son-in-law, Rich Allsion of Santa Fe, NM; 14 Grandchildren, Monica Critchlow, Amy Whaley, Richard Allison, Melanie Young, Shane Ripperda, Lea Wokowiak, Kate Floyd, Kyle Louvier, Nicole Reitz, Tara Fuca, Carrie Slama, Courtney DeLaria, Christopher Ripperda, and Alana Ripperda; 9 Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Leona Richter of Aviston and Ruth Schrage of St. Rose; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernice Richter of Aviston, Virgil (Florentine) Ripperda of Trenton, Loretta Frey of Pierron, Johanna Rakers of Trenton, and Kathy Ripperda of Breese. 

Valeria was a homemaker and a member of St. George Catholic Church and Altar Sodality. She had a passion for Quilting.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Fr. Eugene Neff Officiating.  Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, New Baden. 

Visitation will be Monday, May 25, 2009 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 8:00-9:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. 

A prayer service will be at 4:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. 

Memorials can be made to St. George Church and will be received at the funeral home.
