Bernard J “Pete” Wellinghoff, 67 of Breese died Sunday September 4, 2005 at ST. Joseph Hospital in Breese. 

He was born June 27 1938 in Bartelso to Bernard and Frances (Kohrmann) Wellinghoff.  They preceded him in death.

 He married Dottie Varel June 18 1966 in St. Cecilia Church Bartelso and she survives in Breese.

 He is also survived by 3 daughters, Suzanne (Virgil) Wilke of Highland, Julie (Todd) Hummert of Chatham, Il and Kelly (Gary) Kloeckner of Albers.  Also surviving are grandchildren Madelyn, Audrey, Olivia and Grace Wilke, Ellen, Katie and Jack Hummert.  Also surviving are a brother Paul (Marty) Wellinghoff of Alton, sisters Joan (Ed) Foppe, Marie Davis, Grace (Paul) Goedde and Margie (Paul) Schniers all of Breese and Sr. Catherine Wellinghoff A.S.C. of Johnson City, Il.

 Pete was a member of St. Augustine Church and Men’s Sodality, Breese American Legion Post 252 Veteran’s Club, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869,   Catholic War Veterans, Local 520 Operating Engineers, Breese Historical Society and was a former Breese City Alderman.  He retired from Keeley and Sons as an operating engineer. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday September 7 at 10 am at St. Augustine Church. Interment will be in St. Dominic –St. Augustine Cemetery Breese.  Friends may call at the Moss Funeral home in Breese Tuesday from 4 to 9 Pm and Wed. from 8 to 9:45 AM.

 Memorial can be made to St. Augustine Church and will be received at the funeral home.  The Breese Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 PM.  The Breese American Legion will conduct honors at 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home
