Joseph F. “Joe” Winter, 80, of
Breese, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in
Breese.
He was born June 14, 1927 in Breese
to Joseph and Nellie (Winkeler) Winter, Sr.; they preceded him in
death.
Also preceded in death by brothers,
Victor, Adolph, August, Alfred, Arnold, and Walter Winter, and a
sister Martha Strathmann.
Brothers-in-law, Walter Strathmann,
Ed Gramann, and Tom Haake.
Sisters-in-law, Diane Winter, Millie
Winter, and Bernice Winter.
He married Mary Haake on September
26, 1956 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown; she survives in
Breese.
Also surviving is a brother, Maurice
(Lucy) Winter of Scott, Michigan, and sisters, Marian Winter of
Kansas City,
Kansas, and Johanna (Emil) Schroeder
of Sun Lakes, Arizona.

Ruth Winter of Breese, Clarence (Elizabeth) Haake of Belleville,
Lucille Gramann of Breese, Pauline (Norman) Dierkes of Carlyle, John
(Dolores) Johnson of Germantown, Arnold “Spike” (Ethel) Haake of
Germantown, Marilyn Haake of Germantown, and Rich (Kathy) Haake of
Germantown.
Joe retired from General Motors.
He was a member of St. Dominic
Church and the United Auto Workers.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved
gardening.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial
will be Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM
at St. Dominic Church in Breese. Interment will follow in St.
Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4,
2008 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from
8:00-10:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Memorials can be made to All Saints
Academy or Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral
