Barbara C. Georgy, nee Rehkemper, 85
of Trenton, died Sunday, May 02, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in
St. Louis.
Mrs. Georgy was born January 7, 1925
in St. Rose to Leo and Margaret (Diekman) Rehkemper; they preceded
her in death.
She married Joseph Georgy on October
18, 1949 at St. Rose Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on
October 22, 1990.
Also preceded in death by a
granddaughter, Cindy Poettker; a brother, John Rehkemper; a
sister-in-law, Betty Schleuter; and brothers-in-law, Eugene
Schleuter and Alfred Becker.
Surviving are her children, Paul
(Marilyn) Georgy of Crystal Lake, Patricia (Duane) Poettker of St.
Rose, Michael (Tina) Georgy of Mahomet, and Aggie (Chuck) Strieker
of Aviston; 12 Grandchildren, John (Abby) Georgy, Steve (Kristin)
Georgy, Laura Georgy, Eric (Bridgett) Poettker, Scott (Amber)
Poettker, Nicole Poettker, Jaclyn Poettker, Kristi O’Dell, Dana (Zachery)
Harrell, Matt Strieker, Melissa Strieker, and Stacy Strieker; 7
Great-Grandchildren; a sister, Helen Becker of Bartelso; a
sister-in-law, Helen Rehkemper of St. Rose; and a special friend,
Erwin Kalmer of Trenton.
Born the second of three children,
Barb graduated from St. Rose grade school. As a young woman she
worked at Highland Hospital and later retired as a CNA
at St. Joseph Hospital in
Breese. She met the love of her life, Joseph Georgy through her
brother John. Together they raised four children on a farm
southwest of Trenton. They moved to New Baden in 1965 where they
continued to farm. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, and sharing
good times with her family and friends.
She was a member of St. Mary Church,
Altar Sodality, and Kitchen Committee, Clinton County Farm Bureau,
Clinton County Homemakers Extension, Life Member of the Carlyle VFW
Post 3523 Auxiliary, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and also
volunteered visiting the sick as a Sunshine Girl.
Barb was a kind and loving mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family and her faith were
the most important things to her.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial
will be Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM
at St. Mary Catholic Church in
Trenton with Fr. Eugene Kreher
officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary
Cemetery,
Trenton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 4,
2010 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from
9:00-10:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
Memorials can be made to the donor’s
choice and will be received at the funeral home. |
