Paul H. “PG” Gerdes, 75, of
Bartelso, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Gerdes was born February 16,
1934 in Bartelso to William Sr. and Anna (Bergmann) Gerdes; they
preceded him in death.
Also preceded in death by his
father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Mary (Kuberski) Lamczik;
sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Gerdes, Loretta Restoff and Theresa Lamczik;
and brothers-in-law, Frank “Bud” Kreke and Bob Joyner.
He married Dolores Lamczik on June
12, 1962 at St. Michael’s Church in Radom; she survives in
Bartelso.
Also surviving are his children,
Robert “Bob” (Deb) Gerdes, Brenda (Mike) Toennies, Marvin (Jennifer)
Gerdes, & Michelle “Shelly” (Kurt) Seelhoefer all of Bartelso; 11
Grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Kristen and Matthew Gerdes, Jenna
(friend Matt Gorlewicz) & Kayla Toennies, Zach, Josh, & Trey Gerdes,
Nolan & Nick Seelhoefer; sisters, Cele Kreke of Bartelso; brothers,
William “Bill” (friend Rosie Hemann) Gerdes, Jr. and Bernard
“Bernie” (Sally) Gerdes all of Bartelso; sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Barbara Joyner of Irondale, MO, Carol (Hank)
Winkeler of Ashley, Clara (Ben) Peters of Springdale, Arkansas,
Alphonse Lamczik of Ashley, & Stanley Restoff of New Minden.
PG retired as a welder for the
Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and was a veteran of the United
States Army. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, golfing,
bowling, but most of all spending time with his family and
grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Cecilia
Catholic Church, Bartelso K of C Council 4745, Catholic War
Veterans, Catholic Holy Family Society, Post Oak Club, and was a
former member of the Bartelso Volunteer Fire Department, Bartelso
Community Development, Clinton County Baseball, & Friday Night Fast
Pitch Softball.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial
will be Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM
at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer
officiating. Interment will follow in
St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso.
Visitation will be Sunday, January
17, 2010 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Monday, January 18, 2010
from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials can be made to the donor’s
choice and will be received at the funeral home. |
