David L. “Buck” Haake, 79 of Germantown, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. 

Mr. Haake was born December 23, 1930 in Germantown, IL to Joseph and Margaret (Kannall) Haake; they preceded him in death. 

Also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Haake; brothers, Dominic Haake, Leroy “Big” Haake, Joseph Haake, and Herbert Haake; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernadine Haake, Robert Becker, Marcel Klasing, Almer “Hank” Muir, Rick Muir, Lester Parrish, Lucille and Harvey Nobe, Marilyn and Roland Hoelscher. 

He married Sharon Bachman on July 4, 1969 at St. Peter Cathedral in Belleville and she survives in Germantown. 

Also surviving is a son Robert Haake of Germantown; granddaughters, Jaime and Rachelle Haake of Germantown; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Haake of Germantown; a sister, Blanche Becker of Bartelso; a brother, Robert (Marie) Haake of Germantown; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat Haake of Belleville, Verena Haake of Germantown, Ethel Klasing of Belleville, Kathleen Muir of Mt. Olive, Audrey (Lowell) Oliver Clarkston, WA, Barbara (Walter) Beatty of Belleville, Sandra Parrish of Germantown, and Richard (Sue) Bachman of O’Fallon. 

Buck was a 50 year member and retired as a laborer from  Laborer’s Local 581 in Carlyle and was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his granddaughters, and was well known for his tomato garden. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown. 

Visitation will be Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 9:00-10:45 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. 

Memorials can be made to the Germantown Fire Department or to Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
