Alfred H. Thole, 76, of St. Rose, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland. 

Mr. Thole was born June 16, 1933 in St. Rose to Elizabeth (Wilke) and Clem Thole, Jr.; they preceded him in death. 

He married MaryAnn Holtgrave on June 24, 1967 at St. Rose Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on July 5, 1969

Also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thole; a sister, Florence Tebbe; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Holtgrave; and brothers-in-law, Ferd Tebbe, Ernest Potthast, Anthony Strieker, and James “Dusty” Holtgrave. 

Surviving are his children, Doris Thole and Dan (Kathy) Thole all of St. Rose; 3 grandchildren, Courtney, Jared, and Justin Thole; sisters, Ruth Potthast of Aviston, Mary Strieker of Aviston, and Bernadette (Jim) Jansen of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Florence Thole of Aviston; and brothers-in-law, Leo Holtgrave and Ben Holtgrave both of St. Rose. 

Alfred retired as a lifelong dairy and grain farmer and was a veteran of the United States Army. 

He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Men’s Sodality, St. Rose Development Club, and the Golden Age Club. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 11:00 AM-1:30 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. 

Memorials can be made to St. Rose Church Building Fund, Mater Dei High School, or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
