Arthur H. Wessling, 83 of Germantown, died Friday April 2, 2010 at St. Joseph hospital in Breese. 

He was born May 21, 1926 in Germantown to Bernard and Anna (Ripperda) Wessling; they preceded him in death. 

Also preceded in death by brothers Vincent and Raymond Wessling, brothers-in-law John Schaeffer, Clarence Beer, Norbert Schomaker, Harry Schomaker, Herman Rensing, Elmer Rensing, sisters-in-law  Eleanor Wessling, Loretta Wessling, Cecilia Wessling, Lorene Rensing.

He married Bertha Schomaker October 28, 1958 at St. Damian Church in Damiansville and she survives in Germantown.

Also surviving are his children, Betty (Bruce) Rolves of Indianapolis IN and Carl Wessling of Germantown; 3 grandchildren Sarah, Ryan and Eric Rolves: a brother, Edward Wessling of Carlyle; sisters, Alvina Schaeffer and Florence Beer both of Mascoutah, a brother-in-law, Edwin (Frieda) Schomaker of New Baden: and a sister-in-law. Ella Rensing of New Baden. 

Art retired from farming and was an Army Veteran serving from September of 1952 to August of 1954. 

Member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown,  Germantown American Legion Post 325 and past commander, past Clinton County American Legion commander and was involved with the Veterans War memorial at the Clinton County Court House and the Veterans War memorial in Germantown. 

Funeral Mass Monday April 5, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 4 from 4 to 8 PM and Monday April 5 from 8 to 9:45 am at the Moss Funeral home in Germantown. 

Memorials can be made to the wishes of the family and will be received at the funeral home. 

Germantown American Legion will hold services Sunday April 4 at 7:00 Pm at the funeral home.
