Helen C. Winkeler 81 of Bartelso died Monday January 11, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO 

She was born January 25, 1928 in St. Rose, IL to William and Anna (Wilke) Holtgrave: they preceded her in death 

She married Gregor H. Winkeler June 1, 1948 at St. Rose Church and he preceded her in death September 17, 1998

 

Also preceded in death by brothers Erwin “Erps”, Victor, Clarence, Gervase “GB”, Eugene, William Jr. Holtgrave, brothers-in-law Ervin Winkeler, Norbert Winkeler, sisters-in-law Mildred Holtgrave, Roz Sautman 

Surviving are her children Karen (Paul) Mueller of Summerfield, Jean (Don) Kreke of Bartelso, Rick (Terri) Winkeler of Bartelso, Brenda Winkeler of Herrin, Jason (Amy) Winkeler of Fairview Heights 

10 grandchildren Krista (John) Ginestra, Sarah (Paul) Jones, Emily (fiance Danny Ruma) Mueller, Nathan (Cortney) Kreke, Kyle Kreke, Jordan (friend Jenny Schulte) Kreke, Josh (Ashley) Winkeler, Luke (friend Brooke Koerkenmeier) Winkeler, Abby Winkeler, Zachary Winkeler 

6 great grandchildren Samantha, Payton, Jordyn, Addison, Evan and baby Jones 

A sister Mary (Harold) Zeisset of North Royalton, Ohio 

Brother-in-law Ted (Terri) Sautman of Carlyle 

Sisters-in-law Christine Holtgrave of St. Rose, Pauline (Stanley) Richter of Aviston, Kathy Holtgrave of St. Rose, Jeannie Holtgrave of St. Rose, Pat (Henry) Detmer of St. Rose, Lucille (Don) Vandeloo of Carlyle, Betty Winkeler of Carlyle, Rose Mary Winkeler of Germantown 

Helen was a seamstress owning her own business Helen Winkeler Drapery in Bartelso; she also worked for Brueggemann Drapery, Bartelso, Jo Miller Drapery, Highland, and a cashier at Wink’s Corner Market in Bartelso. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in all sporting events, cooking, baking pies, quilting and an avid card player. 

Member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality and active in the church decorating and past choir member, Young at Heart Club and past Mater Dei Mothers and Friends Club 

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday January 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer officiating. Interment St. Cecilia Cemetery. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday January 13 from 4 to 8 PM and Thursday January 14 from 11:00 am to 1:30 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown 

Memorials can be made to St. Cecilia Church or Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the funeral home
