Erla M. Herbst

Erla M. Herbst, age 83, of Breese, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at her residence.

She was born October 25, 1935 in E. St. Louis, a daughter of the late Erla “Mildred”, nee Forsman, and Olin Foehner, Sr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Martin “Marty” Herbst, whom she married July 16, 1953 at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese and he died May 3, 2008; brother Olin Harold Foehner, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Elizabeth, nee Deien, Herbst; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Dora Ann “Putsy” Herbst, Ruth Pfister, Betty and Marion Wood, Elsie Mae and Delbert Belcher.

Surviving are her children, Tim (Chris) Herbst of Pocahontas and Dan (Diana) Herbst of Canton, MI; grandchildren, Kyle (Erica) Herbst, Grace Herbst, and Skylar Herbst; step-grandson, Christopher Harris; great-grandchildren, Beyhlee, Uryjah, and Gaige Herbst; sister, Pat (Melge) Meier of Springfield; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte (Robert) Baron of Colorado.

Erla retired as the business office manager at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese and devoted her life to family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials may be made to Residential Hospice or Clinton County Relay for Life and will be received at the funeral home.
