Kathy J. Motley
- Full Obituary
Kathy J. “Mama CC” “Critter” Motley, age 46, of Aviston, and formerly of Carlyle, earned her wings on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO after complications following her fifth open heart surgery.
She was born October 22, 1979, in Centralia, daughter of Rick and Lori (nee Bailey) Albert of Aviston.
Kathy is survived by her parents; loving husband, Jason Motley whom she married August 28, 2004, in Breese; cherished daughter, Taylor Motley and fiancé Justin Diekman, her adored granddaughter, Ada; brother, Billy Albert and his family; parents-in-law, Kenneth and Constance Foster; in-laws; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Karen Lamm and paternal grandfather, James Albert.
Kathy was an extremely devoted mother and grandmother who would do anything to spoil her family. She had a heart bigger than most and shared that love freely with everyone around her — especially the furry friends she cared for through the Highland Animal Shelter, where she fostered more than 350 kittens over the last 10 years. She also found joy in feeding the squirrels and birds that gathered in her backyard.
Kathy was truly an angel on earth, and the light of her family’s lives. Her positive outlook and unwavering strength inspired everyone who knew her. She was selfless, compassionate, and endlessly loving; the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.
She was a best friend to many, always trustworthy and always ready to offer unconditional love and support. Kathy was truly a saint sent to us by God, and all who knew her were blessed by her presence. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the time we shared with her, and her memory will live on eternally in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family will honor Kathy with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
