    Marie Barbara Henrichs (nee Hitz), age 85, of St. Rose, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Cedarhurst of Breese. She was born February 10, 1941, in Highland, a daughter of the late Leto and Velma (nee Tribout) Hitz.

     

    Marie married Cletus Henrichs on July 8, 1961, in Highland, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2022. In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was also preceded in death by her siblings, Jeanne (Donald) Bell, Joyce Musenbrock, Darlene (Richard) Schrage, and Donald Hitz; parents-in-law, Theodore and Agnes (nee Schrage) Henrichs; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cornelius (Amanda) Henrichs, Mary Ann (Theodore Sr.) Tebbe, Sr. Rosemary Henrichs ASC, Virgil (Ellie) Henrichs, John (Martha) Henrichs, and Herbert Hustedde.

     

    Marie is survived by her daughters, Linda (Brian) Richter and Sharon (Maurice) Wiegmann; grandchildren, Brandon (Jen Lohrman) Richter, Curtis Richter, Alex Richter, Dylan Richter, Craig (Chelsie) Wiegmann, and Luke (Rebekah) Wiegmann; great-grandchildren, Cora, Cyiah, and Cana Wiegmann and Caine, Asher, Sage, Remi, and Ember Wiegmann; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul Musenbrock and Carol Hustedde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    Marie worked for many years at Artex International and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. She also gave back to her community by delivering Meals on Wheels. In her free time, she enjoyed word search and sudoku puzzles, shopping, and dining out. One of her simple pleasures was enjoying Prairie Farms ice cream, with Neapolitan being her favorite. Above all, Marie cherished her family and loved spending as much time as possible with them.

     

    The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Breese Cedarhurst for their care and support over the past several years. The memory care staff, in particular, provided exceptional compassion and kindness.

     

    The family would like to thank the staff of Breese Cedarhurst for everything they did for the Henrichs family over the last years; the memory care staff is amazing.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Dr. Edward Schafer presiding. Interment will take place at a later date.

     

    Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to Breese Cedarhurst Memory Care, Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. Rose Church Building Fund, or to the wishes of the family and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, which is serving the family.
