Charles H. Wallace, age 93 of Trenton, born November 26, 1922 in Quincy, MA, a son of John and Beatrice, nee Anderson, Wallace, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Wallace was a veteran of the United States Army and formerly worked at the Derby Academy in Hingham, MA, the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, and finally at the Automated Logistics Management Services Agency in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton, the Trenton American Legion Post 778, and the Paul Revere Lodge AF & AM in Brockton, MA.

He is survived by his wife Doreen, nee Olliff, Wallace, whom he married July 11, 1953 in Easton, MA; his children, Richard Wallace and wife Maria of San Antonio, TX, Scott Wallace of Edwardsville, Steven Wallace and wife Brenda of Trenton, and Sue Wallace of Trenton; and 4 grandchildren, Ricardo and Stephanie Sanchez, Brittany and Stephanie Wallace.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and her husband, Clare and Bill Burt.

A Memorial Service will be at a later date at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton with the inurnment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Norma “Jean” Goodwin, nee Peterson, formerly of Trenton, IL, born July 28, 1929 in Laurel, MS, a daughter of Norman Howard and Ann Agnes, nee Rushing, Peterson, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Jean retired as a fabricator after 25 years from Arrow Group Industries in Breese, IL. She was a member of West Gate Baptist Church in Trenton, IL and the Hornbeck Pentecostal Church in Hornbeck, TN and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping, spending as much time as possible with her family, and especially enjoyed watching and supporting the Trenton American Legion Post 778 baseball team with her husband Gator.

Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph “Gator” Goodwin, whom she married on July 1, 1949 in Shreveport, LA and he died September 25, 2004; a sister, Lucille Maxwell; a brother, Douglas Peterson; and a brother-in-law, Frank Allen Barthelemy.

Surviving are her children, Larry Goodwin and wife Pat of Highland, IL, Debby Batchelor and husband Rev. Dale of Troy, TN, Jerry Goodwin and wife Doris of Trenton, IL and Pam Gullo and husband Sam of Trenton, IL; 9 grandchildren, Dawn Musenbrock and husband Tom, Tammy Steward and husband Denver, Chris Goodwin and friend Jill Crowe-Lembeck, Joshua Batchelor and wife Ruth, Jeremy Batchelor and wife Sandy, Brent Rakers and wife Jessica, Jackie Campos and husband Berti, David Gullo, and Cindy Pettibone and husband Jordan; 13 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Gwen Musenbrock, Montana and Dakota Steward, Adilyn Goodwin, Nadia Batchelor, Sarah and Michelle Batchelor, Gage Armstrong, Caden McCann, Lexi and Kanon Rakers, and Christian Campos; a sister Linda Barthelemy of Nederland, TX; a sister-in-law, Jane Peterson of Bossier City, LA; and a brother-in-law, Jack Maxwell of Beaumont, TX.

Funeral Services with be Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at West Gate Baptist Church in Trenton, IL with Rev. Paul Hooks, Rev. Michael May, and Rev. Dale Batchelor officiating. Interment will follow in Trenton Cemetery, Trenton, IL.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton, IL.

Memorials can be made to the Trenton American Legion Post 778 baseball team, the Hornbeck Pentecostal Church, or to West Gate Baptist Church and will be received at the funeral home.

Mr. Venhaus retired as the head groundskeeper at Cardinal Creek Golf Course on Scott Air Force Base. Elmer was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Men’s Sodality, an Honorary Life Member of the Trenton Knights of Columbus Council 2932, and a former member of the Trenton Fire Department. He enjoyed camping, deer hunting, watching Cardinal Baseball, and spending time with his family.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie, nee Trame, Venhaus, whom he married August 20, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton and she died December 29, 2003; a son, David Venhaus; brothers, Edward Venhaus, Lawrence “Pep” Venhaus, and Ludwig Venhaus; sisters, Marcella Venhaus, Frieda Kohlbrecher, Florence Holtgrave, and his twin, Alma “Sis” Rohling’ and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Blanche Venhaus, Joseph Kohlbrecher, Cletus Holtgrave, Edmund Rohling, August Trame, Henry Trame, Edwin and Irene Trame, Lawrence and Irma Trame, Arnold and Odelia Trame, Eugene and Esther Trame, Theodore and Margaret Trame, and Joseph Trame.

Surviving are his children, Mary Blaney and husband Larry, Dennis Venhaus, and Sharon Ritzheimer and husband Brad all of Trenton; a daughter-in-lae, Janet Venhaus of Trenton; his grandchildren, Lisa Wessel and husband Mark, Lynn Gall and husband Chad, Ryan Venhaus and wife Bobbe, Adam Venhaus and wife Allie, Travis Venhaus and wife Amy, Cole and Alex Ritzheimer; 7 great-grandchildren, Ellie and Carson Wessel, Anna and Bennett Gall, Ava and Reece Venhaus, and Hayden Venhaus; his siblings, Bernard “ Junior” Venhaus and wife Rosemary of Aviston, Vera Tonnies and husband Larry of Trenton, and Esther “Essie” Kues of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Trame of Mattoon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph O. Kruep, age 81 of Breese, born September 5, 1933 in Breese, a son of Henry and Elizabeth, nee Richter, Kruep, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Joe retired after 39 years as a steelworker from Granite City Steel and prior to that worked as a farmer. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Breese American Legion Post 252, and the United Steelworkers Local 16. He enjoyed farming, gardening, mowing grass, playing baseball as a young man, the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, nee Lawler, Kruep, whom he married January 29, 1978 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle, and died September 3, 2011; sisters, Marie Kruep and Betty Hilmes; brothers, Alvin Kruep and Wilbert Kruep; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dolores Kruep, Mildred Kruep, Gertrude Kruep, Paul Richter, Sally Lawler, and Charles Lawler, Jr.

Surviving are his step-children, Danny King and wife Elaine of Glendale, Nancy Kleiboeker and husband Roger of Carlyle, Marsha Randall and husband John of Carlyle, and Mike King of Grantsburg; 11 step-grandchildren and 28 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Kruep and wife Margaret of Salem, Paul Kruep and wife Dora, Agnes Glaub and husband Robert, and Martha Richter all of Breese; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard Hilmes and friend Wilma of St. Louis, Pat Lawler, and Mary Lawler both of Carlyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

The Breese American Legion will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Church or Clinton County Relay for Life and will be received at the funeral home.

Linda D Haake (Nee Pabst) 63 of Germantown died Friday July 3, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.

She was born October 23, 1951 in Chicago, to the late Donald and Barbara (Kamins) Pabst.

She is also preceded in death by Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mildred and Paul Gubany, Rosemary and Edwin Fuhler, Paul Haake, Charles Haake, Helen Heintz, Patrick Haake, Bob Jones, Theresa Haake

She married Raymond Haake March 20, 1971 at St. Martha Catholic Church, Morton Grove, IL and he survives in Germantown.

Also surviving are her children Mary (Corey) Hemker of Bartelso, Patricia Haake of Belleville, John (Abby) Haake of Clarksville, TN, Lisa Haake of Centralia, Donna (Kyle) Santel of Germantown, Chandler Haake of Germantown.

Linda received her master’s in special education and taught Pre Kindergarten at Germantown Elementary. She was also a professional story teller and dressed in costume for the appropriate theme of the story, and the past Coordinator of Religious Education for St. Boniface Catholic Church, Germantown.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday July 7, at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday July 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday July 7 from 8:00 to 9:45 am at eh Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorial s can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the Moss Funeral Home.

Alice M. Schrage (nee Huelsmann) 79 of Breese died Sunday June 28, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

She was born December 26, 1935 in Aviston to Henry and Catherine (Henken) Huelsmann: they preceded her in death.

She married Alfred “Dreagon” Schrage August 4, 1956 in Belleville and he preceded her in death May 31, 1998.

Also preceded in death b y a son Mark Schrage, brothers Norbert Huelsmann, Wilfred “Boob” Huelsmann, a sister Marcie Strubhart and brothers-in-law Paul Strubhart, Wilbur Hess.

Surviving are her children Jim (fiancée Harriett Bevars) of Danville,, IN, Brian (Tena) Schrage of Boulder, Mike (Alicia) Schrage of Aviston, Sheila (Scott) Wieter of Aviston.
