Leona F. Peek

Leona F. Peek 93 of Beaver Prairie died Monday January 5, 2015 at Breese Nursing home.

She was born November 6, 1921 in St. Rose to John and Bertha (Steinmann) Weisenfeld: they preceded her in death.

She married August Peek April 2, 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Carlyle and he preceded her in death December 1, 1980.

Also preceded in death by a son First Lt. Dennis Peek U.S. M.A.C. killed in Vietnam January 9, 1970, a grandson Kerry Billhartz, brothers-in-law Henry Peek, Gerhard Peek, John Peek, Cyril Peek, Joseph Peek, sisters-in-law Sr. Theresta Peek, Estelle Peek, Martha Peek

Surviving are her children Geraldine Peek of Damiansville, Roberta Billhartz of Albers, Brenda (Ron) Jansen of St. Rose, Ronald (LuAnn) Peek of Highland, Darrell Peek of Beaver Prairie

Grandchildren Tammy (Roger) Schulte, Tiffany (Howard) Smith, Kurt (Heather) Billhartz, Ken (Cristie) Billhartz, Krista (Dale) Gruenewald, Kim Peek, Stacey Peek, Kent Peek

Sisters-in-law Mary Ann Peek of Breese, Arlene Peek of Aviston, Carol Peek of St. Rose.

Leona was a homemaker and retired from the Laundry Department at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. Leona was a Gold Star Mother. She was an avid reader, gardener and she enjoyed all outdoor activities. She enjoyed quilting and playing cards. She was so proud and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Member of St. Felicitas Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Beaver Prairie.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday January 10, 2015 at St. Felicitas Catholic Church in Beaver Prairie with Fr. Larry Nichels officiating. Interment at St. Felicitas cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday January 10 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made o Alzheimer’s Research Association or Mater Dei High Scholl and will be received at the funeral home.

Mark Schwalenberg, Lt. Col. USAF, Ret.

Mark Schwalenberg, Lt. Col. USAF, Ret., 65, of Trenton, died Saturday, January 5, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Schwalenberg was born July 25, 1949 in Detroit, MI to Roy Schwalenberg and Muriel Ann Tilden; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Craig Schwalenberg.

He married Joyce Hudson on June 24, 1972 in San Antonio, TX; she survives in Trenton.

Also surviving are his children, Derek (Kim) Deckman of Indianapolis, IN, Geoffrey (Melissa) Schwalenberg of Swansea, Michelle (Travis) Rhoades of Menomonee, WI, Kristopher Schwalenberg of Los Angeles, CA, Erik Schwalenberg of Aviston, Stephany Schwalenberg, Brianna Schwalenberg, and Alissa Schwalenberg all of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Pat Schwalenberg of Houston, TX; and nieces, Erika Mendoza, Alison Schwalenberg, and Jamie Schwalenberg.

Mark received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. After retiring at the rank of Lt. Col. From the United States Air Force at Scott Air Force Base, he was a substitute teacher at various schools in Clinton County.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton and the Trenton Knights of Columbus Council 2932.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated and there will be no formal services.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Church in Trenton, the Trenton Knights of Columbus or in the form of Masses and will be received at Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main, Trenton, IL, 62293 who is in charge of the arrangements.

Joseph B. Weisenfeld 89 of Trenton died Wednesday December 24, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born April 9, 1925 in St Rose to Henry and Margaret (Horstmann) Weisenfeld: they preceded him in death.

Also preceded in death by a brother Andrew Weisenfeld, sisters Margaret Wesselmann, Betty Lockwood, Angela Quitmeyer, Sister-in-law Mary Louis Weisenfeld, brothers-in-law Leo Wesselmann, Art Lockwood, Vernell Quitmeyer, Richard Haas, Russell Lee

He married Joan Dierkes August 9, 1950 at St. Mary Church in Trenton and she survives in Trenton.

Also surviving are his children Thomas (Suzanna) Weisenfeld of Lexington, KY, Janis Hoyer of Portland OR, Jody (Rami) Weisenfeld-Ziadeh of Petaluma, CA, Timothy (Tina) Weisenfeld of Trenton.

Member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Men’s Holy Name, Knights of Columbus council # 2932 which he joined in its charter year 1945.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday December 29, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton, with Fr. Joseph Rasher officiating. Interment St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday December 29, 2014 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton
