Daniel W. Renschen

Daniel W. Renschen, age 56 of Breese, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his residence.

Dan was born November 19, 1958, in Breese, the son of Cornelius “Corny” and Eleanor, nee Kapp, Renschen; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Renschen; his father-in-law, Wilbert Koch; a brother-in-law, Danny Koch; and sisters-in-law, Jane Koch, Carol Woodrum, and Beverly “Nita” Koch.

He married Nancy Koch on May 28, 1983, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, and she survives in Breese.

Also surviving are his daughters, Chelsey Gauch and husband Dean of Mascoutah and Emily Renschen and special friend Scott Timmermann of Breese; a grandson, Owen Gauch; a brother, Mark Renschen and wife Linda of Breese; a sister, Sue Renschen and special friend Don Dapkus of Breese; his mother-in-law, Loretta, nee Steinmann, Koch of Breese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony “Sonny” Koch of Beckemeyer, Jack Koch of Centralia, Jim Koch of Carlyle, Judy Schrage of Breese, and Mike Koch and wife Eva of Aviston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from SIU at Edwardsville and formerly worked as a Program Manager at Community Link in Breese and as a manager at Freeburg Terrace. He enjoyed umpiring and refereeing, watching all sports, fishing, frog-gigging, but especially spending time with his wife, children, and grandson, Owen.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese where he formerly served on the parish council, Sons of the Breese American Legion Post 252, and was a former member of the All Saints Academy School Board, Breese Jaycees, and the IHSA Officials Association.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and again on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Lights for Scholarship, Community Link, or to Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at the funeral home.

Henrietta M. Eilers

Henrietta M. Eilers, nee Niemeyer, 83, of Breese, died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Breese Nursing Home.

Mrs. Eilers was born January 2, 1932 in Breese, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Hustedde) Niemeyer; they preceded her in death.

She married Ralph Eilers on August 12, 1952 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; he preceded her in death on January 6, 1996.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Eilers; a brother, Eugene Niemeyer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Bertha (Deimeke) Eilers; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Schrage and Walter “Wally” Eilers.

Surviving are her children, Paul (Kathleen) Eilers of Trenton, Linda (Kevin) Rademacher of O’Fallon, Joyce (Kenneth) Woltering of Beaver Prairie, Barbara (Jim) Foote of Belleville, Dale (Vicky) Eilers of Beckemeyer, and Karen Eilers of Breese; 12 grandchildren, Rachel (Cory) McDaniel, Kate (special friend Brandon Renschen) Eilers, Emily Eilers, Laura Rademacher, Amy (Joel) Frye, Alyssa Rademacher, Kyle Rademacher, Heather (Zach) Goebel, Russell Woltering, Dustin (special friend Kelsey Woods) Eilers, Tosha Eilers, and Zachary Eilers; 1 great-granddaughter, Paige McDaniel; a sister, Katie Schrage of Breese; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorene Niemeyer, Rita (Frank) Voss, and Judy Eilers all of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Henrietta worked at the Wee Walker Shoe Factory in Carlyle, as a cook at the St. Augustine Catholic School in Breese, at the Western Clinton County Senior Services in Trenton, and at the funeral lunches hosted at St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Aloysius “Al” Rascher

Aloysius E. “Al” Rascher, 94, of Breese, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Countryside Manor in Aviston.

Mr. Rascher was born December 28, 1920 in Salisbury, MO to Joseph and Theresa (Spannon) Rascher; they preceded him in death.

He married Marcella Korte on November 26, 1953 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese; she preceded him in death on November 3, 2008.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Sr. Mary Fulgence Rascher, CPPS, Sr. Bertille Rascher, CPPS, and Celestine Emmerich; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bertille Rascher, Harold Emmerich, Leo and Adelle Korte, Eugene and Edna Korte, and Alvin Korte.

Surviving are his children Rev. Joseph Rascher of Trenton and Mary (special friend Diane Holden) Rascher of Rantoul; and a brother Leo Rascher of New Jersey.

Al retired from assembly at General Motors and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Men’s Sodality, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, and the Breese Senior Citizens.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Joseph Rascher and Rev. Patrick Peter concelebrating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to Mater Dei High School and All Saints Academy and will be received at the funeral home.

Philip Theodore “Ted” Haller III 63 of Trenton died Saturday January 24, 2015 at his residence.

He was born July 23, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to Alice Fay (Imboden) Haller and the Late Philip T. Haller Jr.
His mother survives in St. Louis, MO.

He married Cathy Fritz December 13, 1974 in Englewood OH and she survives in Trenton

Also surviving is a son Ryan Hall of Trenton

Ted worked as a boiler and chiller at Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and working on cars and his pride possession MG Midget.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at 4:00 PM at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton, with Rev. Mark Stryjak officiating.

Walter A. “Wally” Eilers 76 of Breese died Wednesday January 21, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born October 13, 1938 in St. Rose to Joseph and Bertha (Deimeke) Eilers: they preceded in death.

Also preceded in death by a brother Ralph Eilers, father-in-law Paul Leitsch, mother-in-law and step-father-in-law Leona and David Fulford.

He married Judy Leitsch December 27, 1958 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Carlyle and she survives in Breese.

Also surviving are his children Joseph (Barb) Eilers of Breese, Ed (Betsy) Eilers of St. Rose, Deb Eilers of Aviston, Donna (Karl) Zimmermann of Carlyle, Mary (Kevin) Cravens of Breese, Mike (Theresa) Eilers of Albers.

Funeral Mass of Christina burial will be Saturday January 24, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating Interment St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Friday January 23 from 4 to 8 PM and Saturday January 24 from 8 to 9; 30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Breese Knights of Columbus will hold services on Friday at 7:15 followed by the Bishop Althoff 4th Degree services at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
