Patricia L. “Pat” Hagen, age 88, of Breese, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at HSHS St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

She was born April 24, 1938, in Trenton, the daughter of the late Louis and Noretta (nee Wehrle) Korte. On September 10, 1956, she married Joseph Hagen at St. Mary’s in Trenton, and he passed away January 3, 2025.

Pat is survived by her children, Deb Engelmann of Harlingen, TX, Becky (Marvin) Rickhoff of Bartelso and Bonnie (John) Schnieder of Breese. She was a proud grandma to Jeff (Ashleigh) Engelmann, Justin (Karen) Engelmann, Amanda (Kyle) Thole, Riley (Nadine) Rickhoff, Hayley (Jacob) Schuetz and Gabrielle (Seth) Haake; and great-grandmother to Mackenzye, Colton, Lucas, Caleb & Briella Engelmann, Marlee & Heidi Engelmann, Sophia & Emma Thole, Trey Rickhoff, Margarete Schuetz and Toby Haake; sisters, Mary Lue Rapien of Trenton, Nora Abernathy of Arvada, CO; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Korte of Albers, and Marilyn Hagen of Breese; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Jim Engelmann; her brother, Louis “Bud” Korte, Jr.; parents-in-law, Henry & Cecilia (nee Huelsmann) Hagen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Phil Abernathy, Marie (Charles) Huster, Rosalie Mitchell, Sr. Jerome Hagen PHJC, Sr. Bernadette Hagen PHJC, Robert (Emma) Hagen, Augustine “Bud” Hagen, Monica (Richard) Saracino, and Jerome Hagen.

Pat was a devoted woman whose life was woven with faith, family, and creativity. A deeply faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, she found great joy and community within her parish. For many years, her friendly, welcoming face greeted neighbors as a dedicated grocery checker at Schuette's Super Valu.

Above all, Pat cherished family time, creating lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. Her hands were rarely still, whether she was nurturing her beautiful garden or stitching love and warmth into her intricate sewing and quilting projects. When taking a quiet moment, she could often be found lost in the pages of a good book. Pat also took great pride in her community, actively giving back as a member of the American Legion Post 252 Auxiliary. Her kindness and unwavering dedication to her loved ones will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be Monday, July 27, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. St. Augustine Catholic Church, with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding in Breese, IL.

Interment will be held at a later date at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Breese, IL.

In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church, Mater Dei High School or American Legion Post 252 and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
