      Sandy S. Rakers (nee Scott), age 64, of Carlyle, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. She was born June 12, 1961, in Belleville, a daughter of the late Glenn and Lucille (nee Gebke) Scott.

       

      Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steven “Choggie” Rakers, whom she married October 30, 1999, at Carlyle Lake, and who died April 27, 2026; parents-in-law, Cletus “Butch” and Margie (nee Schubert) Rakers; and sisters-in-law, Sue Rakers and Kathy Rakers.

       

      Sandy is survived by her bonus-daughter, Jen (Brian) Kuhl of Trenton; grandchildren, Mytchel, Brady (Abby Litteken), and Carter Kuhl; siblings, Terry (Nancee) Scott of Breese, Randy Scott of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and Gary (Jules) Scott of Palm Bay, FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mark Rakers of Arnold, MO, Don Rakers of New Baden, Dave (Jackie) Rakers of New Baden, Patty (Doug) Cowart of Huntsville, AL, Teresa (Mike) Haar of New Baden, Keith (Ruth) Rakers of New Baden, Tim Rakers of St. Louis, MO, Mike (Peg) Rakers of Aviston, Darrin (Gina) Rakers of Trenton, and Lisa (Mike) Middelton of New Baden; nieces and nephews, Lori (Michael) Ziegler of Breese, Neil (Susan) Scott of Mascoutah, Cara (Jeff) Remmert of Omaha, NE, and Jerry Scott of Melbourne, FL; and great-nephews and great-niece, Dylan and Grant Ziegler and Marisa and Max Scott.

       

      Sandy worked at Art Classics in Trenton for more than twenty years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle. She loved lake life and especially enjoyed driving around Carlyle Lake every day and watching the pelicans. Sandy treasured time spent with her family and her beloved Edgewater Beach family, where many memories were made while enjoying a Blackberry Brandy or a vodka orange juice with those she loved most.

       

      A visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese. Closing prayers will follow at 7:00 p.m., led by Deacon Jay Fowler.

       

      In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to the Clinton County Relief Fund (for first responders and disaster victim in Clinton County) or Brett’s First Responders and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, which is serving the family.
