Bernette J. “Mooky” Leonard, age 85, of Germantown, IL, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbert “Bill” Leonard of Germantown, IL, whom she married October 7, 1952 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, IL; daughters, Linda (Rob) Pullen of Germantown, IL, Brenda (Rick) Balsiger of Tustin, CA, and Cindy (Bob) Spillar of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA; six grandchildren, Doug (Suzanne) Kruep, Erin (fiancé Chuck Smith) Kruep, Brianne (Cory) Wellen, Blake Balsiger, Brittany (Tarun) Rana, and Derek (Nancy) Balsiger; six great-grandchildren; sister Virginia “Jean” Buenemeyer of Germantown, IL; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Marie Winter of Germantown, IL, and Evelyn (Ralph) Gonzalez of Jacksonville, IL.

Bernette was a great baker and spent a lot of time in the kitchen making her favorite desserts for the family. The kitchen was her kingdom, where she dedicated a lot of love and time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life lessons were taught around the family table every day.

Her love and skill for quilting was amazing, and she made a quilt for each grandchild when they married. She was an excellent seamstress, and there wasn’t a craft she couldn’t master.

Bernette loved her church and community and was a very generous, gracious friend to many. Her loving smile and laughter will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Germantown, IL, and the American Legion Post 325 Auxiliary in Germantown, IL.
