TSgt. George T. Burns, Ret. USAF, age 84, of Summerfield, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at Breese Nursing Home.
He was born July 24, 1933 in Hornwall, TN, a son of the late George Ashley and Margaret Naomi, nee Peery, Burns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Mae, nee McAlpine, Burns; a brother-in-law, Skippy Wright; and a nephew, Tim Wright.
Surviving is his daughter Margaret (Wally) Foxworthy of Summerfield; grandchildren, Dawn (Brett) Lammers, Danielle Tibbs, and Sean King; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Jonathon, and Lexie Lammers and JoJo Tibbs; and a sister, Sarah Wright of Waverly, TN.
George retired from the United States Air Force and Laborers Union at Eglin Air Force Base after 20 years and 1 day of service, and was a member of St. John United Church of Christ of Summerfield.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Chaplain Jimmy Owens officiating. Interment will be in Fouts Cemetery near Centralia.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
