    Martin L “Marty” Gorman, age 71 of Breese, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at his residence.

    He was born June 11, 1944 in Litchfield, IL to Michael and Opal (Vollentine) Gorman; they preceded him in death.

    Also preceded in death by a daughter, Tara Gorman; brothers, Paul and Robert Gorman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary (Lyerla) Hapner; brothers-in-law, Pat Ryan, Kevin Hapner, and Don Wilson; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Gorman and Sue Wilson.

    He married Tanya Hapner September 3, 1966 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro and she survives in Breese.

    Also surviving are daughters, Shelley Richter and Alicia (Todd) Timmermann all of Breese.

    5 grandchildren, Brennan Richter, Braelyn Proksha, Dylan Knue, Tyler and Aubrey Timmermann.

    A brother, Michael (Linda) Gorman of Farmersville.

    Sisters, Mary Alice Ryan of Corpus Christie, TX, and Rose Gorman of Rockport, TX.

    Sisters-in-law, Carole (Tom) Ternues of Chesterfield, MO, and Catha (Jim) Yount of Hillsboro

    Many nieces and nephews

    Marty retired from Monterey Coal Company in Albers. He loved his grandchildren immensely and rarely missed any of their sporting events. He not only attended their events but could also be found supporting other local sporting teams. He liked camping, boating, and gardening. He spent many hours working on genealogy projects.

    Member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. Breese Lion Club current board member and past president, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Exxon Mobile Annunitians Club.

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday May 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic church in Breese with Fr Patrick Peter and Deacon Linus Klostermann officiating. St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary will have a honor guard at his mass. Interment St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Farmersville, IL

    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11 from 4 to 8 PM and Thursday, May 12 from 8:00 to 9:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

    Members of the Breese Lions Club will do a walk through at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Memorials can be made to All Saints Academy or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
