Walter “Red” Kuhn, 97 of Trenton, died Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Breese Nursing Home.
He was born August 24, 1919 in Sugar Creek Twp. To Walter and Ellen (Montgomery) Kuhn Sr.; they preceded him in death.
He married Vera Rieger November 11, 1952 in Pocahontas, AR and she preceded him in death March 6, 2012
Also, preceded in death by a sister, Dorthea Kuhn; a brother, Jim Kuhn; his-in-laws, Ruth Kuhn, Dot Kuhn, Clint and Marian Rieger, and Betty Korte.
Surviving are his children Jeanne (Russell) Heuberger of Highland, Margaret Ann “Mickey” (Mike) Williamson of Trenton, Deborah Kay (Daniel) Athmer of Aviston, and Tom (Gaytha) Kuhn of Trenton.
5 grandchildren Stacy Heuberger, Keely Frey, Cory (Tricia) Williamson, Joshua Williamson, and Rachel (friend Cody Finan) Kuhn
6 great-grandchildren, Mia Heuberger, Briar Frey, Mara, Cade, and Vera and Judah Williamson
Red was a retired carpenter, and previously owned and operated Hi-Way Farm Supply in Trenton.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan, enjoyed bowling playing cards, fishing and fish fries with his buddies.Member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton, Carpenter’s Local 662, Freeburg, Trenton Masonic Lodge 109 Trenton and past master, Shriner’s MA-CLI-BO Circus Unit, Anaid Temple, Silver Lake Shriner’s Club, Scottish Rite Mason, Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, and a past school board member of the Wesclin School district
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton. Rev. Mark Stryjak presiding. Interment Trenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday November 16, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton
Memorials can be made MS Society, St. John United church of Christ, Shriner’s Hospital, Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the visitation or through Moss Funeral Home, Trenton, who is serving the family.
