Florence C. Horstmann, aged 92, of Damiansville, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. She was born on October 27, 1930, in Damiansville, the beloved daughter of the late Herman F. and Eugenia (Beckmann) Brandmeyer.
On May 2, 1950, she married Leander J. "Lindy" Horstmann, at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2012.
In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by her daughter Lynn Horstmann, son-in-law Sean Howard, brother Ralph "Rudy" Brandmeyer, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry C. and Helen (Olliges) Horstmann, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Loretta (Joseph) Heimann, Honora (Louis) Heimann, Clarence "Clem" (Helen) Horstmann, Irene Horstmann, and Elmer (Virginia) Horstmann.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Norman (Rosann) Horstmann, Stephen (Cheetah) Horstmann, Sharon (Garry) Kalmer, Shirley (Dave) Albers, Ron (Chris) Horstmann, all of Damiansville; Nancy Horstmann of Portland, OR; and Deb Howard of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Meghann (Emmett) Talkington, Justin Horstmann, Britt (Matt) Reisch, Kelly (Phillip) Moss, Jared (Tara) Horstmann, Cole (Andrea) Horstmann, Travis Kalmer, Alex (Marie) Kalmer, Sara (Clint) Flowers, Brian (Jenni) Albers, Keith (Kelly) Albers, Kayla (Josh) Tonnies, Dane (Chyrisse) Horstmann, Riley Horstmann, Luke Horstmann, Robert (Sonja) Howard, Spencer Howard, and Scarlett Catanzaro; great-grandchildren: Jaxx, Eliott, and Fionna Talkington, Kannon and Alivia Reisch, Alden, Owen, and Bennett Moss, Brant, Paislyn, and Abrielle Horstmann, Delaney, Collins, and Crew Horstmann, Lane and Tate Kalmer, Ellie (special friend, Peyton Becker) Albers, Drake Rensing, Collin and Aunicka Flowers, Jase and Colt Albers, Kamden, Kalvin, and Kaiden Albers, Lennon, Monroe, and Navy Tonnies, Locklyn and Lawsyn Horstmann, and Amilija Howard; sister, Dolores (Herman) Fauke of Carlyle, and sister-in-law Patricia Brandmeyer of Damiansville, along with cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Throughout her life, Florence was known for her laughter, sense of humor, and her dedication to her family. She had a special knack for bringing joy to those around her. Her greatest joys were quilting and gathering her family for holidays, hosting memorable celebrations filled with her delicious home-cooked meals and her famous coffee cake.
Florence's passion for life extended beyond her home, as she enjoyed camping and traveling alongside her husband Lindy, close friends, and cherished grandchildren. She formerly was worked a Jim’s Formal Wear as a seamstress and was an active member of St. Damian Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Fr. Matthew Elie presiding and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer assisting. Interment will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and again on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Clinton Manor Living Center Activity Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted during the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, P.O. Box 117, Germantown, IL 62245, who is serving the family.
