In addition to her husband, Marcia is survived by her daughter, Emily (Ryan) Wetzel of St. Charles, MO; step-daughter, Brittany (Michael) Peterein of Festus, MO; grandchildren, Luke and Clare Wetzel; step-grandchildren, Aubrey and Hannah Peterein; siblings, Mary Kay (David) Helldoerfer of St. Louis, Gerald “Butch” Jansen of Bartelso, Carl (Denice) Jansen of Germantown, Mike (Portia) Jansen of Breese, Brenda (Gary) Stephens of Mansfield, TX, Kevin Jansen of Breese, and Colleen “Cooky” (Jim) Kuhl of Breese; mother-in-law, Carol, nee Goetzman, Blaies, of Belleville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Susan (Douglas) Etherton of LeRoy, Shelley (Chris) Miller of O’Fallon, and Jeffrey (Shelly) Blaies of Edwardsville; good friend, Charles Niemeyer of Bradenton, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Allen Helldoerfer; father-in-law, Robert Blaies; and good friend, Norma Niemeyer.
A dedicated secretary and later an IT Specialist, Marcia worked tirelessly for 38 years, finally retiring in 2016. She spent 25 of those years at the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO). She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Aviston and she also devoted her time to volunteering at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary.
In her retirement, Marcia found joy in delivering funeral notice cards for Moss Funeral Home to area businesses. She was a true people person, finding immense happiness in the company of her grandchildren and in hosting cousin sleepovers filled with laughter and love. Her daily conversations and heartfelt texts with her daughter, Emily, were a testament to their special bond. Marcia relished her time with her CLAM group, exploring new places, indulging in her love for reading, and creating lasting memories on vacations with her dear husband, daughter, grandchildren, and sisters. She had an unmatched spirit of care, always putting others before herself. Marcia had a special place in her heart for her furry friends, especially her loyal companion, Libby. Spending time with her dog, friends, and family brought her immense joy.
