    Joan G. Schroeder, age 89, of Germantown, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, October 4, 2024, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. Joan was born on January 8, 1935, in Germantown, to the late Frank and Clementine (née Jansen) Schlautmann. She married Henry Schroeder on May 18, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, and they shared 49 years of marriage before his passing on December 24, 2004.

     

    In addition to her beloved husband, Joan was preceded in death by her son Ralph Schroeder; her grandson, Ryan Voss; her siblings, Jacolyn Schlautmann, Jim Schlautmann, Jeanine Spirek, and David “Slick” Schlautmann; her parents-in-law, Henry and Caroline (née Eilers) Schroeder; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Penny Schlautmann, Frances (Oscar) Wiecking, Frank (Agnes) Schroeder, Laurentine (Henry) Koczur, Alvina (Henry) Heet, Cornelia (Art) Schumacher, Alvin (Wilhelmina) Schroeder, Edward (Dorothy) Schroeder, Dolores “Pep” Schroeder, and Adeline Schroeder in infancy.

     

    Joan is survived by her children: Lester Schroeder of Fallon, NV; Marvin Schroeder of Germantown; Linda (Jim) Becker of Bartelso; Kathy Voss of Carlyle; Dennis Schroeder of Germantown; and Tina (significant other Aaron Sands) Mickelson of Breese; and daughter-in-law Sharon Schroeder of Westchester. She was a proud grandmother to Jennifer (Chad) Kahrhoff, Nicole Schroeder, Philip (Beth) Schroeder, Jill (Jeff) Daugherty, Clinton (Barbie) Becker, Bethany (Eric) Varel, Latisha (Matt) Wilson, Rachel (Kyle) Beckemeyer, Jason (Ashley) Voss, Kyle Voss, and Danny Voss, as well as 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

     

    Joan is also survived by her brothers, Frank (Flossie) Schlautmann of Bartelso and Jack (Pat) Schlautmann of Chesterfield, MO; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry Spirek of Breese, Mary Schlautmann of Germantown, and Cletus Schroeder of Germantown, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    Joan dedicated many years to working in housekeeping at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was a devoted member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. She found great joy in cooking, cleaning, solving puzzles, rummy cube, and playing cards games especially estimate and rummy. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, who were her greatest pride and joy.

     

    Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

     

    Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Linda Becker) and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, PO Box 117, Germantown, IL  62245, who is serving the family.
