  • Full Obituary

James E. Heimann, 82, of Germantown passed away peacefully Saturday, October 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born July 5, 1942, in Damiansville, the son of Joseph and Loretta, nee Horstmann, Heimann and married Kathleen J. Wobbe on October 19, 1963, in St. Louis.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathie, of 61 years; his children Chris Winter (Jeff Haas) and Tim Winter, Becky and Dave Kuhl, Jim and Shelly Heimann, and Andy Heimann; grandchildren Tricia and Christopher Kohrmann, Dan and Ashley Winter, Gina Winter, Mindy and Shannon Cooney, Jamie Lohr and Kris Riedy, Sophie Kuhl (fiancé Reagan Hesse) and Calvin Heimann (Emily Meier); and 11 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings include Ruth Lager, Sylvia Henken, Joanne and James (Stix) Lampe, Esther and Pat Norrenberns, Anita Rakers, and Joe and Annette Heimann; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wobbe.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Tim Winter, in-laws Joe and Fern Wobbe, Paul (Grumpy) Lager, Art Henken, Marvin Rakers, Marita and Gene Hilmes, and Jerry Wobbe.

Early in life, Jim was a dairy and grain farmer and later a self-employed heavy equipment operator. Outside of work, Jim gained many friendships from the softball fields of Friday night men’s league. Jim’s ability to observe details and (over)analyze often led to embellished storytelling and sharing his infinite wisdom. Those skills also served his interest in shooting pool, to include providing unsolicited lessons, and a unique firearm collection. Jim was a devoted and loving family man, finding his greatest joy spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for always being present on the sidelines, unwanted funny pranks and providing driving lessons beginning before the age of twelve. Jim pursued a simple life while instilling his values in all those he loved.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. Thomas Lugge presiding. Private interment at St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown at a later date.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 8:30-10:45 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Mater Dei Catholic High School or St. Boniface Catholic Church and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, P.O. Box 117, Germantown, IL  62245, who is serving the family.
