Gerald F. “Short” Tebbe

        Gerald F. “Short” Tebbe, age 72, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese. He was born August 1, 1952, in Highland, a son of the late Raymond and Edwina (nee Liening) Tebbe. Short married Cindy Zbinden on September 29, 1973, in Carlyle, and she survives in Jamestown.

         

        In addition to his wife, Short is survived by his sons, Tom (Staci) Tebbe of Breese and Travis (Lora) Tebbe of Highland; grandchildren, Jensen, Evan, and Owen, Tebbe and Bryce Tebbe; brothers, Mike (Rita) Tebbe and Chuck (Jackie) Tebbe, all of Highland; mother-in-law, Betty (nee Zobrist) Zbinden of Highland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Novack of O’Fallon, MO, Mike (Bette) Zbinden of Alhambra, Gina (Gary) Thole of Highland, Holly Wheelock of Michigan, Lance Zbinden of Millersburg, and Lisa (Jeff) Leach of California; and nieces and nephews.

         

        Short was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Tebbe; father-in-law, David Zbinden; and sister-in-law, Clover Novack.

         

        A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Short dedicated his life to service and hard work. Following his time in the Navy, he became a valued member of the Laborers Local 397 in Edwardsville, retiring in 2004. In his free time, Short enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved scratching lottery tickets, scrapping, spending time outdoors mushroom hunting, and was an avid deer hunter.

         

        Per Short’s wishes, no services will be held.

         

        Memorials in honor of Short may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
