Meghan E. Jansen, age 34, of Smithton, Illinois, and formally of Breese passed away on Thursday April 3, 2025, at HSHS St Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was born on November 17, 1990, in Breese. The daughter of Karin Jansen (John Crump) of Smithton and Steve Jansen (Jennifer) of Bartelso.
In addition to her parents, Meghan is survived by her siblings, Clarece Jansen and Emit Jansen, both of Bartelso; aunts and uncles, Kathryn Jackson of Shiloh, Kristine (Marty) Tebbe of St. Rose, Gary (Marcia) Jansen of Beckemeyer, Alan Jansen of Breese, Barb (Glenn) Klostermann of Troy, Kenny (Shelly) Jansen Breese, Larry (Marlene) Jansen of Breese, and Kevin (Laura) Jansen of Beckemeyer; and many cousins.
Meghan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arnold “Roscoe” and Nancy Billhartz, and Robert and Vera Jansen, and uncle Kevin Billhartz.
Meghan was a 2009 graduate of Freeburg High School. Professionally, she worked as an office assistant and found joy in her role as a dog groomer, reflecting her deep affection for animals. Throughout her life, Meghan faced significant health challenges with unwavering courage. She underwent both a heart transplant and a kidney transplant- the latter generously donated by her beloved aunt, Shelley Jansen. Her resilience and strength inspired all who knew her.
Meghan was blessed with the love and support of her grandparents Arnold and Nancy Billhartz who played an integral role in her life. Their guidance and affection helped shape the remarkable person she became.She adored her rescue dog Ace, who brought her great comfort and companionship. Those who knew Meghan would describe her as sweet, funny, caring, brave, and a true prankster like her mother. Her radiant smile and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a fighter with a beautiful soul.A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Fr. James Buerster officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association, Belleville Humane Society or the National Kidney Foundation and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
Meghan’s warmth, humor, and compassion will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
