    Florence M. Hogg, formerly of Aviston, Illinois, passed away on January 16, 2026, in Breese, Illinois, at the age of 95.

     

    Florence was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Joseph and Anna (Marks) Skrha. She retired from Continental Grain, where she worked in the Customer Service Department.

     

    Florence was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Aviston for 57 years. She was also a member of the HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. During retirement, Florence and her beloved husband, Francis “Frank,” faithfully volunteered together delivering Meals on Wheels, reflecting their lifelong spirit of service and care for others.

     

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Francis "Frank" Hogg; her parents, Joseph and Anna (Marks) Skrha; her parents-in-law, Andrew and Mary (Schaeffer) Hogg; her sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Joseph Delach; brother-in-law, James Murphy; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Anthony and Kathryn Hogg, Alois and Georgia Hogg, Stephen and Mildred Hogg, Paul Hogg, Andrew and Jean Hogg, Vincent Hogg, Lawrence and Joann Hogg, Dorothy (Hogg) Harris, Virginia Hogg, and LaVera Hogg.

     

    Surviving are her sons, Michael Hogg and Frank Hogg (Bruce Couch); her sister, Marie (Skrha) Murphy; sister-in-law, Mary Hogg; along with many nieces and nephews.

     

    A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Aviston, with Fr. Daniel Friedman presiding. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lebanon.

     

    Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Aviston.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Aviston building fund, Community Link Breese, or the HSHS St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary Lights for Scholarship and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
